A Note about our service

We limit sales of our letterman jackets to those customers whom we can personally fit. Jacket fit is very personal and made more difficult by the fact that high school students grow significantly during the years that they wear their jackets.  For these reasons we are unable to accommodate "long distance" jacket orders. Thank you for your understanding.

Anatomy of a Letterman Jacket

The information below is a primer on how to "build" a letterman jacket if you have never done this before.

The Jacket Itself
We prefer to provide the jacket; however we will embroider a jacket which you provide.  Our jacket of choice is manufactured by RENNOC

The jacket is composed of a number of elements which you must consider. Please refer to the pictures above for  detail.
The Style. Traditional "BOYS" jackets have leather sleeves and knit trim at the neck, waist and cuffs.  Traditional "GIRLS" jackets have wool or leather sleeves, a zip hood collar and knit trim at the waist and cuffs.
The Body is typically constructed of wool or a wool blend material (color chart)
The Sleeves can be made from wool to match the body, or leather in a matching or contrasting color or a synthetic vinyl-like material (polytex) made to look like leather (color chart)
The Knit Trim can be a solid color, but is more often a series of larger and smaller stripes to match school colors (color chart).
Pocket Welts can be made from wool or leather and normally match the sleeve (material and color).
Snaps can be made to match the color of the body or contrast with the body color.
Girls Collar contrasts the body color of the jacket on the top side and matches the body color on the under side. It is typically zippered  A "middy" style (sailor) collar is also available.

Additions to the Jacket
Jacket Back Lettering  Jacket Back Lettering is available in a number of fonts. Typically, lettering is 3 to 4 inches tall and the finished last name measures 12 to 15 inches across the jacket back (shoulders for boys, or hood for girls). Jacket Back Stitching   We use a unique type of stitch on the jacket back - called a step or fill stitch. It covers well and is extremely durable and resistant to snagging. Jacket Back Samples.

Name on Chest   The first name is normally embroidered on the right chest in the same font style and color as the last name on the jacket back.  Outlining or shadowing of the first name, however, is not practical because of its smaller size.  Additional lines of lettering, or graphics, can be embroidered below the first name, e.g. nickname, sports or activities, a basketball, or crossed bats and ball.

Varsity Letter   The Varsity letter is provided by the school. and is sewn permanently onto the left chest.  Small embroidered emblems or pins may be attached to the letter, or above/below it, to signify participation in various sports. Varsity Letter Samples.

Graduation Year Chenille   The Graduation Year Chenille is a patch made up of loop type stitches and typically consists of two digits measuring 3 inches tall placed approximately one inch below the sleeve seam on the left sleeve. Since the year 2000, a four digit grad year measuring 2.5 inches tall has become popular.  We normally provide the graduation year chenille and sew it permanently in position. Chenille Samples.

Miscellaneous Patches and Chenilles  Miscellaneous patches can be sewn anywhere on the jacket. A three inch high chenille is sometimes sewn on the right sleeve below the shoulder seam to indicate a jersey number or position.  More than one set of numbers can be stacked one below the other. Note: Any items sewn onto a leather sleeve is permanent, because needle holes in the leather do not "heal".
